Smart Cities, Cities of tomorrowThe fast growing population in our cities and the need to offer better living conditions for our citizens create new challenges that city developers face in order to create a sustainable environment respectful of its inhabitants and offering them, at the same time, new services. Based on some success stories, the event will examine what should be the main focus of municipalities when developing a smart city strategy. Is the inclusion of the technological solutions in the city management enough to become a Smart City? What are the consequences in terms of governance in the city administration? How can we enhance the regulatory framework to foster innovation?  Is the Smart City concept reserved for big and industrialized cities? What type of collaborative work should cities rely on?

A main challenge of a smart city strategy lies in the ability to make different actors, both public and private work together for the benefit of the citizens.

A Bilateral Forum to foster cooperation – In order to create bridges between our innovative systems, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and the French Embassy in Bratislava are launching a Bilateral Forum to gather experts, local and national government and companies from both countries to exchange good practices. Through this forum, main parties will discuss the opportunities and challenges brought by the integration of ICT solutions in the management of city services, such as transportation, energy and housing.

We want each city to share with the participants its success story and best practices thus offering the opportunity to create new cooperation between Slovak and French actors of the smart city.
